Sri Aurobindo Avsheshdham, Vapi
The Sri Aurobindo Avsheshdham is a small but deeply spiritual center of devotion, fulfilling the long-held aspiration for a presence of Sri Aurobindo on the western land of Gujarat. The center has 45 sadhakas currently associated with its spiritual life and activities.
The center’s significance rests upon the installation of a portion of Sri Aurobindo’s sacred relics, bestowed by the Mother (Shri Mataji). This installation, which was described by devotees as if “Sri Aurobindo Himself had come in full form”, took place during the Sri Aurobindo Avshesh Prathapan Mahotsav on January 15, 1970.
The relics are reverently interred in the Samadhi, sealed within a sandalwood casket (Chandan-Manjusha) nested inside multiple precious metal caskets, which is placed on a wooden pedestal. The Dham is intended to be a “place of God” that remains perpetually vibrant with sadhana (spiritual practice) and devotion.
