The first spiritual organisation of its kind, located outside the Sri Aurobindo Ashram, Puducherry, Sri Aurobindo Pathamandir was established on 15 August, 1941, with the blessings of Sri Aurobindo and the Mother.

Since then Pathamandir has been engaged in various activities to spread their messages of Integral Yoga, selfless service and love aimed at initiating on this Earth the divine regime of Ananda. Situated at the educational hub of Kolkata at College Street, this old temple of the Lord is frequently visited by the students and youth amidst their busy college schedules for few yet everlasting moments of meditative peace.

The well furnished library serves as an abode of learning, enabling people of all ages to get acquainted with the idea of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, their disciples and contemporary authors of various languages, particularly in English and Bengali. In the library books ranges from Philosophy, Sociology, History, Education, Management, Literature, Mythology, Yoga, Political Theory to diverse aspects of Indian and foreign culture and heritage are available. The organisation’s publication wing regularly publishes the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother in English and Bengali in its books, annual journals and periodicals.

Sri Aurobindo Pathamandir also conducts regular lectures and seminars under the “Sri Aurobindo Studies’’. “Sri Aurobindo Pathamandir Youth Forum” conducts youth conferences which remain popular among them. Since its inception, Pathamandir has been engaged in multifarious activities that endeavour to nurture young minds and souls, helping them to develop their future life, besides their own inner selves, so that they become the preferred progressive beings driving the world towards a holistic growth.

Regular Activities Conducted In The Centre
Established in 1941 with the Consent and Blessings of Sri Aurobindo himself and The Mother it was the first public institution outside the Ashram, in this country and abroad. From the very beginning we have a library solely dedicated to Sri Aurobindo and The Mother, a publication wing to publish the works of Sri Aurobindo and The Mother and eminent persons related to them. We also have been publishing a journal annually in English and a Bengali journal on four Darshan Days since 1942. We conducts regular lectures and seminars under the "School of Sri Aurobindo Studies". Another activity is meditation on two days in a week.
