At Gangnath Shibir during 09-13 November 1967, an aspiration, a prayer for township offered to the Mother on 12th November. The Mother granted the prayer and named township as “Ompuri ॐ पुरि” in her own hands both in English & Sanskrit. Ompuri is affiliated with Sri Aurobindo Society and is a branch since 25-02-1969. The Mother gave blessing with Her Signature to the township on 25-02-1969 with the motto “A City for the Divine, where we aspire for the Divine, Live for the Divine, Act for the Divine.” Subsequently the land was acquired and foundation was laid on 11-11-1983. Bhoomi Pujan ceremony took place on 21-02-1998 and Relics were installed in “Maha Mandiar” on 11-11-1998 at 11:11:11 am. Ompuri is situated on the bank of Vatrak River, at Village Matar, Dist. Kheda of Gujarat State. Campus comprises of vast land areas and has basic residential infrastructure facility. Regular programmes and shibirs are conducted by Ompuri as well as various centres of the Gujarat. Ompuri is regularly organising shibirs during 13-17 May, 9-15 November and 23-28 February commemorating ‘Shibir Day’, ‘Anniversary Day’ and ‘Blessings Day’ respectively.
